Support ServicesWhat is Carer Support?A fact sheet from the Ministry of Health is available describing carer support and how it can be used. Also available is a letter describing the new rates that apply from 1 November 2007. See also the newsletter from the Parent and Family Resource Centre on the subject of respite care. Support OptionsA new website has been launched that helps you find the support that best meets your needs. They aim to provide a comprehensive guide to disability support services funded by the Disability Services Directorate of the Ministry of Health in the Auckland and Northland regions. This site is designed to present easily understood information about publicly funded disability services that currently exist, along with details of who is contracted to provide them in Auckland and Northland and who is eligible to access them. A key feature of this site is the ability to print off information sheets about the disability support service providers you wish to access. It is their intention to avoid replicating information that is already available, so there are a number of links from this site to other disability-related websites. The National Travel Assistance SchemeThe National Travel Assistance Scheme provides financial assistance to people who are referred by their specialist to see another specialist, and need to travel long distances, or travel frequently. |
