Song Book With Signs
This booklet has been put together with more first songs and signs to help begin the development of communication for your child with Down syndrome.
This is a publication produced by the Down Syndrome Society of South Australia Inc in 1999. It is a continuation of more first songs and signs from the First Songs with Signs publication. Topics covered in this publication include first songs, first song index, signing for the child and their family and first signs index. Through songs we develop attention and focusing skills, listening and responding skills, signing skills, language and speech skills, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, bonding with parents and relaxation. Each song presented in this book has the key developmental skill identified plus comments for appropriate positioning to gain your child's focus and attention. This book is designed for families to use at home. Signing is a very important tool to assist children with Down syndrome in the development of their communication skills. Signing assists the child to learn to talk and then later develop reading and writing skills. The signs presented in this booklet are the simple signs parents can use in daily routines with their child.
NB: The library resources are available for ADSA library members to borrow. Unfortunately we do not sell direct to the general public.
